Web Hosting : Handling Your Host's Acquisition

Acquisitions are a natural part of the hosting game, and customers are one of the assets that most often become the subjects of those acquisitions. Although we don't often hear about the customer experience of transitioning from an acquired provider to a new service, there are issues that regularly occur in these situations, and the customer of a recently acquired host could benefit from looking for them.

Generally, some combination of the acquired host or the buyer will communicate the details of the transition to the customers, outlining the upcoming change. A failure to communicate the change at all would probably be the first sign of a rough transition to come. Some post a notice on their front Web page, others will release the news in the form of a press release, blog post, email or forum thread. Whatever the method, hosting providers seem to understand that their customers need to know what's going on, especially when there's a chance of downtime or other minor service issues. Though downtime can be problematic, scheduled downtime can, at least, be planned around, and your customers can be warned.

The problem most likely to cause upset during the transition is downtime. Although it's possible your service won't go down, if your hosting provider has properly prepared, sometimes you'll encounter an outage. In most cases these problems will be fixed quickly, and compensation issued. In rare cases, downtime and instability will plague the transition. It might not be a bad idea to do some research on a suitable backup host in case this sort of problem occurs.

Be prepared for the possibility that other issues could crop up with your new provider delivering a different style of customer service, glitches in email servers or lost emails, billing system problems, or in rare cases, information being lost during the migration process.

Overall, things go smoother if your hosting provider is open and communicative during the transition. It's likely that they'll try to fix your issues as quickly as possible as soon as they're done with the migration process. Not all Web hosts are that transparent, however, and if yours isn't, decide whether you want to wait for problems to occur, or take some precautions in advance.

Ecommerce Web Hosting

Hi, for this posting I want to discuss about the Ecommerce Web Hosting. In the hosting world there are tons of terms. Some of them are Ecommerce Hosting,Database Web Hosting, SSL certificates,Email Hosting Solution and many more. So what are they?? What is Ecommerce Web hosting?

But I don't want to bundle all issue in one package. In this posting I only talk about the Ecommerce Web Hosting. Actually the general function is to host a web or a system. There are no big differences from the others. But since we are talking about the Ecommerce, so the main purpose of having the Ecommerce web site or system is we want to allow those transaction via online. The transaction is absolutely the online payment that is made by the clients around the world.

So the main features in this ecommerce hosting are the product management since we want the Customizable, Automated Product Input & Management,Multiple Product Options,Live Stock Status and SmartMatch™ Technology,Real Time Inventory Management and many other functions in our site.

Besides, the hosting provider also provides customizable, administration and of course the feature of payment colletion va credit cards, pay pal, egold or even checks.

As a conclusion, in the non ecommerce web hosting we can't get all these features for the basic. That's mean we can't do the online money transaction without the features. So, that's it for now, cheers to all!

Web Hosting : Who.is lookup

Hi all, for this posting I want explain a bit on Who.is. I believe many of us did hear about Who.is. Sometimes they call it as Who.is look up. mm...wut the Who.is look up then? Wut's the purpose for? As we know there tons of web hosting in this whole wide world. But do we know who the owners are for some web hosting that we are looking for?

Sometimes it's really important for us to view the information for the owner of the web hosting. As an example a company claims that they are the USA web hosting company and do the business online for whole 16 years. So as smart user we can could check who they are by the who.is.

By using the who.is, we could know very well about the domain name registration, IP adress, the country where they register the domain, NIC handles and many more. So if they claim they are from USA but in the who.is we could see the IP is from Nigeria...so it's absolutely a big liar git!

this is an example of who.is. Go to http://www.who.is. You just fill any url that u wish to check out. Press the button and the information will lay down to you.

As a conclusion, the who.is function is very helpful for all of us on order to avoid such scam around. I hope this posting will help you guys a lot!

Reseller Web Hosting

Reseller Web Hosting

Reseller web hosting is someone who sells the web hosting package to the others. Let say the client will buy the web server from company A but the support system and the other tedious job will be handled by company B. Why? The truth is company A is not the real party who provides the web server. This company only helps the company B to sell their web server packages. So that's what we call as reseller web hosting.

So what do you think? I'm giving you a hint to those who love to make money online! It's sort of being a sub contractor but you could create your very own web hosting packages and prices that could gain such profits to your client! This Reseller Web Hosting package is such a great way for a small company to exceed their business features such as a web design or system developer company. That's mean they could offer the whole meal package for their clients. Web design or system with web hosting package with their own brand name.

I hope this short explanation helps you guys out there especially to the newbies in understanding what the reseller web hosting is.

Web Hosting Provider : How good they are?

Well, well, tons of the web hosting provider claim they are the best..they are the splendid, they are best hosting technology provider. With these kind of promotions we must be in such doubt in making the decision which one is the best!

Let me gives you some other tips in choosing them... 1st of all : list down all of needs and the issue that makes u confuse. In this stage I assume you to make a rough decision on the host provider. Go to email them or chat with them...Ask all your web hosting requirements and those issue that make you confuse.

This is the most critical part...check out yr email or their support ticket...are they giving you the precise answer for the issue? how long they take to give the feed back?

If you think they cover yr issue very well and give the support in such fast time...i think there won't be any trouble for that...

In my past experienced, I did face the trouble of a web hosting provider that did not know about add on domain!!! hahahaha..so u better be careful! Cheers

Create email in your cpanel or HELM

Hi all, today I want to talk about creating the email from your web server. In this case, I'm assumed all of us have a domain name and a web hosting. Many of the users today prefer to have our very own email with our name. This is an example scott@scottish.com. So how we are going to do it? What is the constraint? Can i put any name for @xx.com? Can I add some other name from my domain name?

I think that's the questions for the newbies. But, don't worry...I will cover those issues based on my knowledge and my experiences.

In order for you to create those mails, you must be in your web server. Check out for the emails feature. You could create the mail accounts from the email feature page. Normally, a web hosting account will offer such unlimited email accounts.

Now we are talking for the name of @xxx.com..I think of all us have our own desire name on it. But, although the web hosting package will say "UNLIMITED EMAIL ACCOUNT". That doesn't mean you can create any name, @xxx.com for it. The name must be based on your domain name.. As an example you have a domain name of www.snacks.com so the email will be yourname@snacks.com.

You couldn't create any name unless you have other domain name that match to your wish. E.g you want yourname@mybox.com.au Therefore you have to own a domain of www.mybox.com.au. I think my explanation is pretty clear and if u have any questions you may ask me. :)

Domain names : How to choose?

In these days there are bundles of domain names that simply alive in the internet world. You can see various types of them. Some of them are very easy to be remembered and some of them are so hard! For the most easy like hotmail and yahoo, they must have the ten fold visitors. Why? Their domain names are so easy to spell and to remember. So make a good choice before you are making the domain registration!

Let me give you an example to make it more clear. I'm taking a simple example a company : dexterous technologies. They choose the dexteroustech.com. Wut a name! They tend to make the visitors in wrong spelling and it's hard to remember!

But, when we are talking on how easy the domain names to be remembered....don't make a nasty shot on choosing it. Since I'm telling you that the domain name must be easy, you just pick www.22.com for your jewelry web site. That's out of the mind and you will face a hard time with the searching engine (key word).

Let say you do have a company, a web site and wish to sell jewelries online. Your company is bestquality enterprise. So, instead of use the name bestquality.com,choose the www.best-jewelry.com. That's easy right? Your customer will remember you and in the same time your domain name will work well with the searching engines! So, do you get it? I think you are in the clear position about this issue and I hope it will help lot of people out there!

Free Web Server

There are tons of web hosting company claimed that they offer a free web server server service. The be fooled around by them. make a deep study on them. Check the features, the web space and the bandwidth. The most important part is to check whether they simply have the hidden cost or not. the hidden cost might be small or big. If the cost is small but the hosting features are nasty, that's pretty bad and for sure it's better for you to find the paying web hosting services.

The most horror part of all is when they actually hide the big cash hidden fees. It would be a horrible nightmare for you!

Since we call it as free web server, do the companies cover the 24/7 support for us? Check that!! If the technical service is bad your sites will be nothing and won't be alive!

As a conclusion, be careful on these free web server service. make a study on them! But not all free server companies give a bad service. Some of them do excellent! The most important part is you must make a deep study before choosing to use their services

website hosting without FTP

upload files without using FTP client
in uploading your files to web server you need a FTP client to do the job. Sometimes, we lost the FTP and feel that lazy to download the new one. Well, I have a solution for that!! :)

-U have yr own url :

so put ftp + url yr url in your browser :

this will require your username and password

you can see all the files in yr web server and if you want to upload your website just drag the files in the page.

**you can do anything on your files here, delete, copy and paste, drag files, create new

folders and etc

it's really easy right?? YOU DON'T HAVE TO DOWNLOAD ANY FTP CLIENT'S SOFTWARE!!! cheers!!!

my comment:

although this is the most easy ever but u need a high speed internet for making the files transaction sweet and smooth as ever. But if u have the slow internet just forget it cuz u need 100 cups of coffee for waiting the processes get over.

Video Tutorials on Hosting A Site (website hosting)

For the first time, I thought I want to give the step by step tutorial but I think again, it's much better if I use the video tutorial. At least you don't have to read the whole post..but just stay at the page and watch how the hosting processes all the way. I hope you enjoy with this video :) cheers!

Actually I did add some videos by default by the widget but I'm afraid if they just do the random video. I did view in the youtube and this is one of the best video tutorial on it.

What is FTP

Well, for many newbies they will use to hear about FTP. But it's a bit confused when some people ask "what is FTP?" and "what's the purpose for?" So FTP is File Transfer Protocol for the definition. Besides, FTP is a software that webmaster use to do website hosting or we call as host a site to the server.

mm...some people did ask me "how the FTP do the website hosting?' "how FTP helps web master to do the hosting?" In this case I like to use an analogy to make a better understanding on it. In the previous postings I did say the web server is a pencil box or pencil case.

So, right now on we can imagine our websites are the pencil, pen, rubber or even the sharpener. If we have those things for sure we will put them in the pencil case right? "So how to put them in the pencil box?" "We use our hand right?"

So, the same thing goes here. The FTP help us to put our websites in the web server. :)

FTP usage

Hi all, in the previous postings I gave you tons of explanations and briefings on web hosting. So today I think it's better for me to be straight to the point on how to host a web hosting or website hosting. Let say u did buy the web server and the domain names, so the big next thing is to host your web to be published in the internet.

Without hosting it, it's zero and useless for buying the web hosting, buying the domain name and do the domain name registration.

So in order for you to put your web sites in the web server, you need the FTP to do the website hosting. I know there are bundles of FTP software out there. So for the newbie it must be hard to do selection. From my very own experiences, the best FTP software is FileZilla FTP. It's really easy to use and the transfer time is much faster than the others. I'll stop now for this issue and I'll come with "what is FTP?", "Tutorial on using FTP" and "website hosting without FTP"

Performance and Security : Linux Vs Windows

As I promised in the last article, Now I come with the issue on the performance between Linux and Windows web server. Actually lots of the experts and the newbie keep talking about the flaws between on them...Some of them did say the Windows works better cuz their machine works with windows. LOL!!! Some of them did say the hackers made a success riot in the Linux Web Hosting....

If u r a man minded on security...it's not about which package that you are using at. But, check out for the highly skill from the hosting provider...Are they skilled enough??? That's the most important part.

So, we are moving on the performance. Look, if you are using only PHP web site. In this case you are focusing in only one technology so u be better to use Linux web server... So, that's better cuz normally Linux will focus in one certain technology. But u must check it out whether your package did cover all technologies or emphasizing on one...

If u r working with some shared web server i.e u have the add on domain features...like u do have php, asp.net, vb.net web site n so on....so u must choose the package that cover all of them....So I think u do understand on that right? :)

If u do have some questions just leave them here n i'll give my best shot then...Adios!!!

What is Linux and Windows Web hosting?

For many newbie, they used to keep a question "what is Linux web hosting?" and "what's Windows web server?". When i was “that baby” I used to search about those 2 issues.. but the result went bad. it was because there were not so many articles that elaborated this issue precisely. The worst part was they just gave the answer based on their very point of view.

After a long searching, at last I got the answer! Well, I won't use the hard approach on the briefing. I know many of the readers are not the IT guys...so i 'll use the simple word ever!

Windows web server : It's developed and owned by Microsoft . (it's not free)
Linux web server : It's an open source and generally it's free

Since I did give such a short brief on those servers. So there is a question rise up. “Which kind of server that I should buy at?”

To answer this question I have some questions back. “What kind of technologies that you want to run at?” and “What the databases usage are?” Well, well….if you are intend to use Microsoft product such as ASP, FrontPage, the .NET environment, Windows Streaming Media, Access, MSSQL, or etc (Microsoft family), you need to use a Windows host, probably.

A question rise up again “Is that mean I can’t host my .Net web in the Linux Web server?”

Generally, these technologies are limited in Linux but if they do cover the Microsoft products they could be more expensive than the Windows.

Again “why?”. As I mention on the short briefing, the answer is Linux is open source and they didn’t develop the Microsoft. Hence, if they intend to add the Microsoft features, they must be need more budget to inject those things in the package (Linux Web Server).

I think I did explain this issue with the simplest word that it could be. Since I don’t want to bundle all issue in one article, I’ll separate it to be the smaller one. After this I’m going to cover on “the performance and the security between both of them” after this. Adios!!!
