Free hosting web service

Hi all, for the previous article I did discuss on the free hosting web. In that article I did discuss a lot on the features, the reliable web, pro and cons. As I said, not all the free hosting web service is bad in their performance. Recently I found one of the best free hosting web and I think it’s nice if I share the info with all of you. Before that I should tell you this free service is for hosting PHP web and hosting mysql web.

Actually I was thinking to find the good free web hosting. So, many of us could get the benefit from the web hosting.Let us go straight to the point. The web hosting service is Awardspace. The url of the web is http://www.awardspace.com, and you could go to http://www.awardspace.com/signup.html for signup to the free hosting web service. The specification of the services are 200MB Disk Space, 5GB Monthly Traffic, 2 Domains Hosting,5 Subdomains, Free DNS Server, PHP, Perl/CGI-BIN, 1 MySQL Database, FTP/FrontPage Access, 5 POP3/IMAP E-mails, Instant Account Setup, Web-based File Manager, Easy-to-use Control Panel, Reliable RAID Backups,GRID Hosting Platform, Super Fast Server, Reliable Data Center, 99.8% Uptime Guarantee, 24x7 Network Monitoring, Forum Support, No Banner Ads, and Fully Upgradeable.

The users feedback are the web hosting supports their PHP and MySql websites and the best part is there is no advertisement and banner at all. Besides, the cons are on the asian countries users. Since the web hosting (server) is in USA so the Asian users face the difficulties on downloading the site. There is one more con on it, since there is no such fee on the web hosting service thus; there are ton of other users that are using this service.

As a conclusion, you could use this free hosting web service as the first practical trainee on handling the PHP and Mysql websites, and I do have a devil idea on it. Why don’t you use the Awardspace web hosting for your clients (you are the webmaster) especially those clients who don’t want to pay that much on web hosting service. Just charge them for $100 per year for that free hosting web. He he he.

The Collocation's benefits

Hi all, today I'll bring the new topic of the web hosting world. From the last article I did write a lot on the basic thing about web hosting. Thus, I 'll bring the new topic on the colocation. I'll bring this issue on the colocation web hosting step by step.

What is colocation?

The colocation gives all the features of dedicated hosting and in the same time gives you features than you could ever think. The colocation solutions puts the owner of the web server in your hands, giving complete freedom to you.

Difference between Colocation and Dedicated Server

if you are using the dedicated server, that's mean the first owner will be the main owner of the server. In the other word, the web hosting company own the dedicated server. You are as a client to them. Hence, the colocation means you own the web server.

Host Savings

If you want to start all over in the web hosting business from scratch, I do believe that some amount of money to fulfill your server demand. Since you are using the colocation, the web hosting company who offers the colocation did everything for you. Thus, you could use the capital to focus on the other business that you are doing.

Security

It's one of the crucial part of choosing any kind of web server in this world. But you don't have to worry on the safety of the data because most data centers provide you with collocated server confidence and the critical information contained on the server is safe. Data centers should be monitored 24-7. Hence, your systems should be safe enough in a state-of-the-art data center.

Connectivity

One thing that you must understand on colocation. When you are using colocation that's mean there is no sharing of bandwidth, RAM, or any other hardware allowing your server to run at its highest capacity. Some colocation companies offer redundant Internet connections and extremely high bandwidth provisions ensure that your information is readily accessible for your use or your customers use on demand. Because of high bandwidth provisions the response speed of your collocated server will be at a level higher than that of your customers ensuring a quick response. Thus, you don't have to be worried on the capacity since it serves the best.

Independence

If you wish to run the web hosting company, the thing that run in your mind is about the technical part of the wen hosting data center, you need to pay the staff and for sure you need a bunch of knowledge on the web hosting. With your server collocated, a physical business can be done in that smoothly.

Increased Flexibility

Colocation offers you the flexibility to upgrade and grow your technology requirements as your business grows without having to make additional capital investments. As you budget for changes, they can happen.

Well, I do hope my new article will help a lot many people out there. Actually, i was running out of idea on writing the basic thing on web hosting. Thus, any readers that simply in doubt on the web hosting issue could ask me in the comment box and I'll give my best shot to give the briefing.

Web Hosting ASP Server

ASP.NET 2.0 did develop the web applications much easier with such less code! ASP.NET is a set of technologies in the Microsoft .NET Framework for building Web applications and Web(XML). ASP.NET pages execute on the server side and generate markup such as HTML or XML that is sent to a browser. Besides, ASP.NET supports multiple .NET languages including built-in support for VB.NET, C#, and JScript.NET, since if we are working with ASP.NET we will choose which the language it is. Hence, the ASP web hosting that come with the 2.0 feature might be easier for the .net sites for all.

Some of the cheap and best asp net web hosting services are:

1. ASP.Net 2.0 hosting

2. ASP / ASP.Net 1.1 hosting

3. MS SQL Server support

4. Unlimited ODBC / DSN

5. Unlimited sub domains

6. Unlimited mail boxes

7. Flash MX, ado .net, xml, vb .net, c#

8. soap, wsdl, wap, wml, .net 2.0 hosting

So, those people who need the good web hosting ASP sever could consider on using the ASP.Net 2.0 hosting. The price is nice but the performance is still be at that good!

Tutorial: Solution for changing the New Domain Name (modifying the .htaccess file)

Well this tutorial is on overcoming the problem when you do change your domain name to the new one. Refer to my last article. Let us, straight to the point. I consider in this case your old web site did have the .htaccess file in the web directory or the web host allows you to put the .htaccess file. There is one thing that should be considered; generally the web hosting that use the Apache server will have that facility.

Take this code for the example in the .htaccess.

When you do that actually you tell the server to ask the browser to load the new site when the visitors are in the old domain name. So, how about the searching engine? The searching engine also follow the link to index the new URL, and transfer the page rank of your old page to the new one.

But what if we don’t have the .htaccess file or the web host doesn’t allow doing so? Well, you could set up an automatically redirecting page by inserting the following META tag in the "head" section of your web page. Keep it all in one line in your page.

Well, I hope this tutorial will help you a lot out there!! Adios!!!

Switch to The New Domain Name Issue

Since, I did cover so much on the basic thing about web hosting, so I got no such idea on the basic topic that I should discuss about. Suddenly, I thought about an issue on changing the url. For an example a company of beer maker, the Bristol (www.the-bristol.com) wants to change the domain name to be (www.beer-bristol.com).

In this article I want to discuss on the pro and cons of changing the domain name. Well, I think I should point on the pro of changing the domain name first. In this case I do consider on this beer maker company. The most obvious pro on changing the domain name for them here is they are making their domain name (url) to be more SEO friendly by emphasizing the word of beer(make the beer as their keyword) in their domain name.

For the SEO friendly aspect that’s good but what will be happened to user that used to be accessed the web via www.the-bristol.com? They couldn’t reach the site by using the new domain name. That’s the most obvious cons of having the new domain name cuz for sure you’ll lose ton of your existing visitors.

Is it means I mustn’t change the domain name at all? Nah, it’s not like that. You have 2 solutions on that! The first one is making a page that could automatically forward to your new site (redirection page from the old domain name) and the second one is put a link in your old web site to let the users go to the new url.

But there is a problem on those both alternative ways. For the first solution, the problem that will be appeared is you might be lost the search engine listing. Generally (not all the searching engine did), the searching engines hate the redirection page. The old one will be deleted if they see the redirection page (when the spider returns to check your site). That’s mean you have to start the search engine listing from zero. Is that what you wish at?

The problem that been appeared for the second approach is when the visitors come to the old site, they just could see the new domain name asking you to go there. There is a possibility that the visitors feel that lazy to go to the new url. So, by using the second approach you still risk yourself to loose the visitors too on your new sites.

“Well, based on the discussion above, the new url just brings more harm to the new site”. That’s not true; you still could do something to overcome the problem! The best solution is by modifying your .htacess file. But I will not cover it here cuz it’s too long to be in this article and this might be made you bored to read the whole article. I’ll continue with it after this. Adios!

Part 2 : What should you when you change the web host?

This is the part 2 of the web hosting tutorial. I hope you guys out there enjoy the tutorial!

3. Update your DNS of the domain name

I do consider that you’ve been doing those 2 steps above. Hence, this is the time on working in the technical things. Since you are using the new web hosting so, you need to know on what is the DNS of the new web hosting. Copy the DNS number.

Login to your domain name account. Go to ‘manage your DNS’ part. Paste the new web DNS number in that section. Choose to save and you have to wait for some couple of hours before the DNS propagates (depend on the web hosting provider, some of them take 2 days long.

4. Add your domain name to the new web hosting.

Login to your helm or cpanel account. Choose on add on domain. If your DNS did propagates well, there is no problem in adding the domain name in the account. But, if it doesn’t an error message will be appeared on telling the DNS number is not match. That’s mean; you need to wait some other couple of hours.

5. Upload the files

If every thing is completely perfect, you could start to host your files to your new web hosting. Again, use the FTP software to make the uploading files. After you do this step, upload the database that you had save from the old server. Just use your .txt database file and it’s done!

Tutorial Part 1 : What should you when you change the web host?

mmm…for these few days, I’ve been thinking hardly on the topic or the web hosting tutorial that should I bring into this web hosting blog. After thinking in some while and being in some forum, reviewing their problems suddenly I got an idea. Thus, I’m going to come out with tutorial on the few actions that we should take if we are changing the new web hosting account. Remember, in this article I don’t mean we are changing our web site’s domain name. We only move to the new web hosting. It’s like we are moving to the new house. (I did explain on this in the last article)

  1. Copy all the files to your machine

Since you are moving the sites to the new web host, so the very first thing that you should do is copy all the files from the web hosting. What I mean is if you do have the web site or a system, copy all of them from the server. You could do that by using any FTP software. If you are kind of me (I save those files in my local machine all the time) so you could skip this stage.

2. Copy your database

This is one of the most crucial parts. You really need to copy the database in order to make sure when you are launching the web site in the new web hosting there are no such most update listing, info or the new members of the site been dropped since there is no such backup for the database.

Some of my friends ask me on how to copy the database from the server. They told me they hate to build up the database again. LOL!! It’s easy, if you are using the mySql just go to the list of the databse in your web server and choose which one of them. Then, you just dump the mySQL and save it as .txt. The size is extremely light but yet it’s really powerful though.

Since there are 5 steps to be included in the tutorial so I make a decision to split up the tutorial to be in part1 and part2. Hope you guys enjoy this article and may it could help you in your web hosting management. Have a nice day!!

What is The Meaning by Changing Your Web Hosting

Some of us might be in the first time of changing the new web hosting. We may change the web hosting plan or even change it to new web hosting provider. When We talk about changing the web hosting that's mean we are changing the web server only. Some of us may think "when we are changing the web hosting that's mean we are changing the url (http:// www.xx.com) too".

That's not true. Some of my friends simply confuse by this issue too. So, I wish to make the simplest example in order to make all of us understand clearly on changing the web hosting matter. As an example we live in the house with our friends : ellen, sally and sarah. Due to some reasons all of us are moving to the new house.

So, what could we figure it out is, the house is the web hosting. Thus, the new house is the new web hosting. The domain names are me, myself, ellen, sally and sarah. In this matter, all of us being together move in the new house. We are not changing our name, right?? Ha ha ha ha...that's the best example that I could think for the matter.

I hope this article do help a lot of people that wonder on what is all about on changing the web server. I'll come tomorrow with tips on changing the web server. Adios!!

Virtual Private Server

When we are about to choose the web hosting service, usually we will see the list of the features and some many briefing there. Today I'll bring the topic for Virtual Private Server. The web hosting provider used to advertise "Get your virtual private server now!" and gave such bundle of advantages by using them.

Before you choose the service let me give you the brief on what the virtual private server is.

A virtual private server (VPS, is also known as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.

Well, so far we do know what the virtual private server is. But, what the exact advantage on us if we are using the VPS feature as our web hosting account?

Let us take a look on the usage of the VPS. The virtual private server bring the gap between the shared web hosting and dedicated web hosting service, giving the independence for the customer for their software terms but also give the less cost compare the physical private server.

The VPS is not about cutting the cost only to the customers but they give the customers have the superuser-level access to the operating system, and could install any software that could run within the OS. For the beginner, I think you should consider on this part since sometimes our internet connection gives some ban for the web hosting account. Thus, if we do have this feature we could install some software to pass by the ban.

I hope this article could help you a lot out there. Have a nice day!!

Server Side Included (SSI)

Hi guys, today I bring a new topic on web hosting. I dedicate this article to all of you especially those who are the money makers. What do I mean is the those who work out for some advertising sponsor like adsense. Thus, I do recommend you on using the Server Side Included, SSI to make the auto insertion code. But, there is an issue on that. In order to use the SSI feature your web hosting must support the SSI.

So, how to make sure on it? Well, you could ask the support team of the web hosting. Nowadays, almost the web hosting company do support the feature but, if they don't this is the right time to change them to be the better one. It must be hard for you to insert the adsense code for every single page in your websites. Just imagine if you do have 1000 pages are you willing to insert 1000 time? Are you willing to do so?

Tutorial : Choose the right folder in your web hosting

Few friends of fine did ask me, I did login to my web hosting but what I saw in the server was few folders. "I am so confused. Where should I put my web sites or system?" Those are the common questions that been asked from the newbie. First of all, find the language of your web site. As an example php, perl or .Net. In this case I consider your web hosting could host all these languages.

For the most common, there are some folders in the web hosting : www, cgi and etc. Well, if you want to host your .net and php choose the www folder and if you want to host the perl files, choose the cgi folder. I hope this this short tutorial will help all of the newbies out there.

Free Web Hosting for Perl / CGI (CGI-BIN) Access

As I mentioned in some few postings, there are some pro and cons by using the free web hosting. But if you are in some critical part of trying to host your web sites before buying your very own web server, you could try these few numbers of free web hosting provider.

But, in this post, I just emphasized on Perl web hosting. Some of my friends did ask me on it. I don't know why they simply faced some trouble to find the Perl web hosting provider. So, I did some study and found some useful list on it. So, here are the listings :

For the newbie or any user that glance to the advertisement, it might be a golden box for our web hosting resource. But before you sign up you'd better examine all the details of any unlimited web hosting plan offers.

Some unlimited web hosting plan put the unlimited number of domains that you wish to operate to. The other plans might allow you to operate what we call unlimited for many people usage, 30 domain, perhaps.

You have to check what the unlimited is all about

Don't ever make the mistake of unlimited sub domain. Most of the web hosting package ofer the unlimited sub domain feature. So, don't be confused. These plans come with a very good deal offer and some of them just been bad. Some of them may offer an unlimited bandwidth but limit the number of add on domain to be one.

These kind of plans may save your money and you may get some profits by handling lot of domain names in one server.

The next issue is who will manage the hosting? Are the webmaster for all those web or your customers require themselves to be the webmaster?. If you are the only one webmaster, that's totally fine but if there are many webmasters, you'll find some problem in the security risk.

Dedicated server

Small websites are hosted on shared servers. A shared sever can contain hundreds of other websites. The entire website hosted on the shared server share an IP address with each other. Therefore dedicated server is best options for staring new large website.

Dedicated server can be used as Web server, Mail server, Database server or for your custom application which require huge server resources and bandwidth. Dedicated Servers are preferred for hosting large size web sites.

Hosting your website on dedicated server give you more flexibility on your hosting environment. If you run a high traffic website then dedicated server is the best option. Dedicated server lets you run your customized application with full priority and dedicated resources.

The server is dedicated to the customer and customer can host their all websites. Clients can host unlimited website on Dedicated Server. Website Company provides good customer service for Dedicated Server.

Web Hosting : Handling Your Host's Acquisition

Acquisitions are a natural part of the hosting game, and customers are one of the assets that most often become the subjects of those acquisitions. Although we don't often hear about the customer experience of transitioning from an acquired provider to a new service, there are issues that regularly occur in these situations, and the customer of a recently acquired host could benefit from looking for them.

Generally, some combination of the acquired host or the buyer will communicate the details of the transition to the customers, outlining the upcoming change. A failure to communicate the change at all would probably be the first sign of a rough transition to come. Some post a notice on their front Web page, others will release the news in the form of a press release, blog post, email or forum thread. Whatever the method, hosting providers seem to understand that their customers need to know what's going on, especially when there's a chance of downtime or other minor service issues. Though downtime can be problematic, scheduled downtime can, at least, be planned around, and your customers can be warned.

The problem most likely to cause upset during the transition is downtime. Although it's possible your service won't go down, if your hosting provider has properly prepared, sometimes you'll encounter an outage. In most cases these problems will be fixed quickly, and compensation issued. In rare cases, downtime and instability will plague the transition. It might not be a bad idea to do some research on a suitable backup host in case this sort of problem occurs.

Be prepared for the possibility that other issues could crop up with your new provider delivering a different style of customer service, glitches in email servers or lost emails, billing system problems, or in rare cases, information being lost during the migration process.

Overall, things go smoother if your hosting provider is open and communicative during the transition. It's likely that they'll try to fix your issues as quickly as possible as soon as they're done with the migration process. Not all Web hosts are that transparent, however, and if yours isn't, decide whether you want to wait for problems to occur, or take some precautions in advance.

Ecommerce Web Hosting

Hi, for this posting I want to discuss about the Ecommerce Web Hosting. In the hosting world there are tons of terms. Some of them are Ecommerce Hosting,Database Web Hosting, SSL certificates,Email Hosting Solution and many more. So what are they?? What is Ecommerce Web hosting?

But I don't want to bundle all issue in one package. In this posting I only talk about the Ecommerce Web Hosting. Actually the general function is to host a web or a system. There are no big differences from the others. But since we are talking about the Ecommerce, so the main purpose of having the Ecommerce web site or system is we want to allow those transaction via online. The transaction is absolutely the online payment that is made by the clients around the world.

So the main features in this ecommerce hosting are the product management since we want the Customizable, Automated Product Input & Management,Multiple Product Options,Live Stock Status and SmartMatch™ Technology,Real Time Inventory Management and many other functions in our site.

Besides, the hosting provider also provides customizable, administration and of course the feature of payment colletion va credit cards, pay pal, egold or even checks.

As a conclusion, in the non ecommerce web hosting we can't get all these features for the basic. That's mean we can't do the online money transaction without the features. So, that's it for now, cheers to all!

Web Hosting : Who.is lookup

Hi all, for this posting I want explain a bit on Who.is. I believe many of us did hear about Who.is. Sometimes they call it as Who.is look up. mm...wut the Who.is look up then? Wut's the purpose for? As we know there tons of web hosting in this whole wide world. But do we know who the owners are for some web hosting that we are looking for?

Sometimes it's really important for us to view the information for the owner of the web hosting. As an example a company claims that they are the USA web hosting company and do the business online for whole 16 years. So as smart user we can could check who they are by the who.is.

By using the who.is, we could know very well about the domain name registration, IP adress, the country where they register the domain, NIC handles and many more. So if they claim they are from USA but in the who.is we could see the IP is from Nigeria...so it's absolutely a big liar git!

this is an example of who.is. Go to http://www.who.is. You just fill any url that u wish to check out. Press the button and the information will lay down to you.

As a conclusion, the who.is function is very helpful for all of us on order to avoid such scam around. I hope this posting will help you guys a lot!

Reseller Web Hosting

Reseller Web Hosting

Reseller web hosting is someone who sells the web hosting package to the others. Let say the client will buy the web server from company A but the support system and the other tedious job will be handled by company B. Why? The truth is company A is not the real party who provides the web server. This company only helps the company B to sell their web server packages. So that's what we call as reseller web hosting.

So what do you think? I'm giving you a hint to those who love to make money online! It's sort of being a sub contractor but you could create your very own web hosting packages and prices that could gain such profits to your client! This Reseller Web Hosting package is such a great way for a small company to exceed their business features such as a web design or system developer company. That's mean they could offer the whole meal package for their clients. Web design or system with web hosting package with their own brand name.

I hope this short explanation helps you guys out there especially to the newbies in understanding what the reseller web hosting is.

Create email in your cpanel or HELM

Hi all, today I want to talk about creating the email from your web server. In this case, I'm assumed all of us have a domain name and a web hosting. Many of the users today prefer to have our very own email with our name. This is an example scott@scottish.com. So how we are going to do it? What is the constraint? Can i put any name for @xx.com? Can I add some other name from my domain name?

I think that's the questions for the newbies. But, don't worry...I will cover those issues based on my knowledge and my experiences.

In order for you to create those mails, you must be in your web server. Check out for the emails feature. You could create the mail accounts from the email feature page. Normally, a web hosting account will offer such unlimited email accounts.

Now we are talking for the name of @xxx.com..I think of all us have our own desire name on it. But, although the web hosting package will say "UNLIMITED EMAIL ACCOUNT". That doesn't mean you can create any name, @xxx.com for it. The name must be based on your domain name.. As an example you have a domain name of www.snacks.com so the email will be yourname@snacks.com.

You couldn't create any name unless you have other domain name that match to your wish. E.g you want yourname@mybox.com.au Therefore you have to own a domain of www.mybox.com.au. I think my explanation is pretty clear and if u have any questions you may ask me. :)

FTP usage

Hi all, in the previous postings I gave you tons of explanations and briefings on web hosting. So today I think it's better for me to be straight to the point on how to host a web hosting or website hosting. Let say u did buy the web server and the domain names, so the big next thing is to host your web to be published in the internet.

Without hosting it, it's zero and useless for buying the web hosting, buying the domain name and do the domain name registration.

So in order for you to put your web sites in the web server, you need the FTP to do the website hosting. I know there are bundles of FTP software out there. So for the newbie it must be hard to do selection. From my very own experiences, the best FTP software is FileZilla FTP. It's really easy to use and the transfer time is much faster than the others. I'll stop now for this issue and I'll come with "what is FTP?", "Tutorial on using FTP" and "website hosting without FTP"
